Mary Alice Lee, Ph.D.

Dr. Lee is a Senior Policy Fellow with the Connecticut Voices for Children and a Lecturer at the Yale University School of Medicine (Department of Epidemiology and Public Health). At Connecticut Voices, her work entails health services research and policy analysis, with a focus on health and health care of low-income families and children.

Prior to joining Connecticut Voices in November 2003, Dr. Lee was the Assistant Director of the Children's Health Council, the independent oversight council established by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1995 to monitor the impact of Medicaid managed care on children's health care and to ensure access to health care services for all children in Connecticut. She is a member of the Academy for Health Services Research and Health Policy, the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, the American Public Health Association, and the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Dr. Lee is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Nursing, is certified as a nurse-midwife by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She taught nurse-midwifery at the Yale University School of Nursing and practiced in a variety of clinical settings. In 1995, Dr. Lee received a PhD in epidemiology from Yale University, with a focus on maternal and child health policy.
