Doug is the Associate Director of Research at CT Voices for Children, where he contributes to tax and budget and family economic security matters as a data analyst and researcher. Most recently, Doug has co-authored a series of studies dealing with both asset outcomes and asset policy. Other recent work has examined “The State of Working Connecticut”, noting the challenges faced by working families today. Doug spends considerable time immersed in piles of Census data, and working with maps in GIS applications.
Douglas Hall has a doctorate in Political Studies from Queen’s University, Ontario, where he studied state level economic development policies. He also holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from McMaster and Guelph Universities in Ontario, and a Bachelor of Arts from York University.
Doug has spent time working in the public sector, for the Government of Ontario, and in academia, teaching at Ontario’s McMaster University and Nipissing University, and at Kentucky’s Eastern Kentucky University.
Prior to joining Connecticut Voices for Children, Doug served as the Project Director for Kentucky Youth Advocates’ tax and budget work. While there he coordinated the activities of the Coalition for Tax Fairness, was involved in the ongoing activities of the Kentucky Economic Justice Alliance, and spearheaded KYA’s involvement in creating the Welfare Reform Assessment Project (KWRAP).
