Connecticut Voices for Children is the lead agency for the Covering Connecticut's Kids and Families (CCKF) initiative, a statewide coalition of organizations concerned with access to health care for children and their parents.
Currently, CT Voices coordinates statewide meetings of the CCKF member organizations where information about HUSKY and related health care issues is shared. These meetings are open to all organizations interested in HUSKY enrollment and access issues. CT Voices also manages an e-mail listserv to help the Coalition and other interested persons or groups keep abreast of health care issues affecting families and children.
Coalition members:
- Provide outreach through established groups such as schools, child care providers, pediatric care providers, the business community, and social service providers;
- Provide technical assistance and support to local outreach efforts;
- Work to maintain and expand HUSKY enrollment simplification and renewal processes;
- Work with the Connecticut Department of Social Services to increase retention of eligible families in HUSKY;
- Offer joint training with DSS to enhance the work of outreach organizations;
- Work with other groups to demonstrate why HUSKY premiums and other conditions of enrollment will result in the loss of HUSKY coverage; and
- Ensure that children moving between HUSKY A and B do not experience gaps in coverage.
